Key Facts

The "Innocenti Mini" was produced under license by Innocenti of Lambrate between 1965 and 1975. Compared to the English originals, the Innocenti versions (including the Coopers) presented many differences. They had more equipped and better finished interiors, various external components with different shapes, for example in the design of the headlight frames, the grille and the rear trunk, modified to accommodate the Italian square plates in use at the time. Many internal and external details were produced by Italian brands (for example IPRA for the radiators, Carello and Altissimo for the headlights). Even as regards the mechanical part, different choices were made, such as for example the adoption of the brake booster on all Cooper models, regardless of the engine size (the British mounted the brake booster only on the Cooper S), and a longer axle ratio on Mini 1000, 1001 (luxury finishes) and Cooper 1300.
